This abbey, Abbatiale St Michel, is the most important Romanesque building in the Ain. It has an ornate 19C bell tower and houses the vestiges of a Benedictine abbey (12C), which was destroyed during the Revolution. Inside: the Chapelle St Anne (16C) with its Renaissance vault embellished with a superb network of arcatures; the fine altar with marble angels, in the chancel; the magnificent Martyrdom of St Sebastian by Eugène Delacroix. An odd detail: the pillars in the nave that splay into a basket-handle arch.
