Mutianyu offers a good compromise between accessibility and crowds of tourists. The views here aren't as glorious as in Badaling, but are impressive nonetheless. Here, the wall has been restored across a section stretching a little over 2km which is both accessible on foot and a great deal quieter than Badaling. The large number of bastions and watchtowers renders the spectacle even more beautiful in winter, as well as providing welcome shade in summer. The walk to the top is easy, albeit long.
