At the south-eastern most tip of Shikoku, on the Pacific Coast, Cape Muroto reveals a unique and spectacular landscape that fully justifies its Unesco geopark status. A 2km-long walk enables visitors to observe the layers of solidified rock which are former seabeds raised by a succession of earthquakes that took place some 14 million years ago. The subtropical vegetation is equally sumptuous, in particular the ficus superba.
