In the heart of the Muharraq labyrinth, here is an astonishing building, emblematic of the spirit that presides over the regeneration of the district: a meeting between tradition and the audacity of modernity. From the outside, a fine mesh of steel covers the façades, while inside, a beautiful room with light oak parquet flooring and fine columns opens up. The design is the work of Belgian architects Geers-Van Severen. It is a contemporary interpretation of a ‘dar’, the traditional place where musicians and singers used to gather for sessions of fjiri, the traditional song of the men of the sea.
