Built in 1725, this house is Montreal's finest existing example of a traditional urban residence, whose features include unadorned fieldstone walls, firebreaks (the part of the wall extending beyond the roof as a shield against flying sparks), tall chimney stacks set into large gables, and a pitched roof unrelieved by dormers. The attic, with its three small windows, evokes the mansard-style roofs introduced by the Loyalists. Timberwork typical of the 18C can be admired inside the building.
