On the site of the former Bois du Cazier colliery, the Espace 8 Août 1956 commemorates the victims of one of Belgium's greatest mining disasters, in which 262 miners died in a fire in the St-Charles mine. The Museum of Industry recalls Wallonia's rich industrial heritage. The mid-19C sheet-metal mill is one of the highlights. The changing rooms and showers give an insight into the miners' everyday lives.
