The ‘House of the Koran’ houses a collection of manuscripts and editions of the sacred text. A precious 8th-century parchment in elegant Kufic script is one of the oldest known copies of the Koran. Medieval manuscripts from Persia, Mesopotamia and North Africa are on display to showcase the different styles of Arabic script, all of which illustrate the infinite plastic possibilities of the script. Visitors can also discover the first Koran printed in 1694 in a German workshop, as well as Latin (1543), Russian and French translations dating from the 16th and 17th centuries.
