Even though bananas are the main crop of Macouba, a few acres of sugar cane continue to supply this small distillery, which produces one of the finest old rums of Martinique, the "J.M. Crassous de Médeuil". Visitors can explore the aroma workshop, where they can smell seven of the distillery's rums, tour the heart of the rum master's domain, which can be seen through an oeil de boeuf window, and also admire the scent garden planted with species which are used to flavour the rum with their rich aromatic scents.
