Lund's imposing cathedral, founded in the 11C by King Canute II, is the finest example of Romanesque architecture in Sweden. Inside, admire the apse, a jewel of Romanesque design, the astronomical clock (14C), the marble and alabaster Renaissance pulpit (1592) and the Gothic choir stalls (14C). Stained-glass windows (1930) adorn the apse and transept, and a mosaic by J Skovgaard (1925) embellishes the vault of the apse. The sculpted pillars in the crypt illustrate the legend of Finn the Giant.
