This London skyscraper was inaugurated in July 2012. It does indeed resemble a shard of glass, hence its name and was designed by architect Renzo Piano. At 1,017ft/310m-high, it is the highest building in western Europe. Visitors can go up to the panoramic terrace on the 69th floor to admire The View.
