This is the most picturesque part of Lille. Thanks to restoration works, the old town has rediscovered its huge, grand 17C and 18C bourgeois houses with their façades decorated with intricate gables. The finest example of this is the Place Louise de Bettignies. Take your time to wander about the maze of little streets, then test out the nightlife in one of the bars or restaurants that lend this busy neighbourhood its lively atmosphere.
