Imagine a large craggy rock, miles away from the mainland, with few ferry services and overlooked by mass tourism - this is Lastovo, a tiny paradise which is perfect for divers and hikers. Like the archipelago to which it belongs, it was declared a natural park in 2006 and is home to rare marine species and animals, as well as protected flora. Although the island has few beaches, it is home to numerous creeks, a spectacular rugged coastline and no fewer than 200km of well-marked footpaths.
