Langeoog belongs to the East Frisian islands. The island's "Haus der Insel" is home to a Maritime Museum (Schiffahrtsmuseum), where the lifeboat Langeoog (in service between 1945 and 1980) can be admired in front of the building. However, the island's main attraction is its raised promenade along the chain of dunes which commands a splendid view of the white sandy beaches.
