From the foot of the staircase that leads to the sanctuary, there is a pretty view over this Baroque ensemble. The church (18C) has a white roughcast façade that brings out the elegant granite curves; the cross-ramped staircase decorated with azulejos and a multitude of pinnacles is reminiscent of that of Bom Jesus de Braga. From the church square, the view takes in Lamego, against the backdrop of the hills lining the Douro valley.
