The city's main shopping street runs in a straight line from the fine arts museum to Plaza de Armas. It was at n°153 (Ambos Mundos hotel) that Ernest Hemingway, who inspired such interest in Havana, wrote for Whom the Bell Tolls. It is no surprise that the great author chose this smart and picturesque street as his base, with its bodeguitas, musicians and art galleries.
