To reach Mount Pilatus, overlooking Lake Lucerne, hop onboard the steepest rack and pinion railway in the world. From the upper resort, climb a few minutes more to the summit of the Esel (alt. 2,121m), from where you can savour the view of the Alps and the lake below. A stroll around the gallery hewn from the rocky face of the Oberhaupt is also recommended.
