The modern building is adorned with a steel trellis roof, intended to evoke the white sails of a ship. The collections chronicle the maritime history of Kobe and feature some interesting scale models of boats. A second section is devoted to the history of the port of Kobe and to the different phases of its development. Next to the museum, the Kawasaki Good Times World showcases a few specimens (Shinkansen, motorbikes, helicopters...) of the production of the famous company and provides the chance to take part in amusing experiments based on new technologies.
