Among the canal side meadows and reeds stand 19 windmills over a 2km/1.2mi stretch, made famous by their number, size and the beauty of the marshland scenery. Bearing witness to the never-ending battle against the rising water, since 1997 they are a listed UNESCO World Heritage site. Today their sails only turn for the tourists, every day in summertime, except Sundays.
