Corfu's Old Town extends from the Esplanade (east) to the New Fortress (west) following a complex layout: first in neat rows perpendicular to Kapodistriou, the main thoroughfare and beating heart of the city, the streets become sinuous closer to the old port, which reveals a maze of kantounia, narrow alleyways where you invariably get lost.
