Between Karistos and Stira (about 30km) the Eagles' Road runs along a mountain ledge 700-800m above sea level. Despite the name, you won't see many birds of prey, but spectacular views over the Gulf of Petalión. The wind blows hard, slipping over the steep side of Mt Ohia (1 398m), with Cipollino green marble quarries mined since Antiquity.
