Åland's oldest church, Sankt Olofs kyrka dates from the early 12C and stands on the main street at the heart of Jomala. On a Latin cross plan, this remarkably spacious church has interesting wall paintings. Four 13C scenes painted on the tower arch depict the Parable of the Prodigal Son.
