This sturdy fortified house right in the town centre dominated the crossing of the Slitrig Water, a tributary of the Teviot. Now restored - and an attractive inn it charts the history and manufacturing processes of tweed and knitwear. An interactive exhibition also illustrates the industrial past of the Borders.
