Initially specialising in reptiles, this small zoo built on the banks of the lake became famous when an intrepid South African established a world record here by spending 109 days in a lion's cage. Other attractions include giant Seychelles tortoises and orangutans. In the warm season, visitors can embark on a minicruise aboard a flat-bottomed boat (for a fee) to the artificial lake, Hartbeespoortdam, converted into a water sports resort.
