Lake Alster, to the north of the town, encompasses two artificial lakes, Binnenalster and Aussenalster. The latter is bigger and suited to sailing and canoeing. A boat tour lets you see the spires of the main churches of the city and the bell-tower of the Town Hall in one fell swoop.
