Emblematic of the traditional architecture of turf-roof farms, Glaumbær (18C-19C) is one of the finest examples of its kind, along with Laufás and Grenjaðarstaður. You can visit the various rooms, where, at the time, some 20 people would have lived, sleeping, eating and working right on their beds. During the long winter evenings, while the women devoted themselves to spinning and sewing, and the men to carding wool and plaiting horse-hair rope, a member of the clan would recount sagas or recite poems.
