The church, commissioned by Raimondello Orsini del Balzo (1350-1406), boasts a superb doorway and a marvellous series of remarkably bright 15C frescoes which cover the walls completely - as soon you are enter the church you are struck by their brilliance, their intensity of colour and their rich detail. Several themes are represented: the Apocalypse, Genesis, the New Testament (the most sumptuous and best composed) and, in the presbytery, the life of St Catherine of Alexandria.
