The Medina of Fez is a great place to explore, and you'll probably get lost here no matter how good your sense of direction but that's also part of its charm. The architectural wealth of the old town is best appreciated in the early morning: its fortifications, mosaic-covered fountains, ornate doorways, hidden palaces... Madrasa Bou Inania and Ensemble Nejjarine, with its superb fondouk, are among the must-see monuments in the medina.
