It is not difficult to see why Évron's reputation precedes it: it is home to one of the Mayenne region's most important churches, the Basilique Notre-Dame-de-l'Épine, which – with its remarkable slate roof – can be seen from miles around (10km). In the centre of a region dotted with lakes and forests, this small town also had the honour of hosting St Louis in 1236.
