Located in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas, in the southern part of the state, the Parque Natural El Triunfo, a Biosphere Reserve, is home to a luxuriant but endangered ecosystem. It ranges from 250m to 2,750m in altitude, going from low tropical forests to high-altitude ones, and contains several thousand species of plants and an exceptional variety of fauna including spider monkeys, toucans and highly sought-after quetzals. But the deforestation continues.
