In the mountains of Teno, which stretch from Buenavista del Norte to Santiago del Teide, the park encompasses narrow valleys, high-altitude mountains and deep ravines. One of the many paths leads from El Palmar Valley to Teno Alto, a small village built in the centre of a crater furrowed with crops growing in terraces. From El Retamar, the landscape turns into lava fields that culminate in a black cliff plunging into the sea, and the popular Playa de la Arena, close to Los Gigantes.
