The Covenanter's Stone stands on the site of an old fort, a reminder that General Alexander Leslie and his army of Covenanters, awaited by Charles I in Berwick, made camp here. The view extends northward over the Lammermuirs, southward as far as the Cheviots, taking in the Northumberland coast to the southeast.
