The abbey of Disentis, one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries in Switzerland, was established in 17C, 19C and 20C buildings along the mountainside. It includes a church, an imposing baroque building (1695-1712), flanked by two bulb bell towers. The airy interior is adorned with paintings and stucco work, which were restored in the early 20C.
