This museum was opened in May 2014 on the 60th anniversary of the Vietnamese victory over the French at Dien Bien Phu. The design of the building recalls the camouflage netting on the helmets of Vietnamese soldiers, the Bo Doi. The museum is based around four themes: Vietnamese resistance, the battle itself, international support during the conflict and the consequences of this victory. Photos and other exhibits provide a moving picture of the battle, which lasted 57 days.
