Dali is dominated to the west by the Cangshan range of mountains, which features fifteen peaks at altitudes of between 3,500m/11,400ft and 4,122m/13,500ft. The Cloud Path hiking trail at the foot of the range stands at 2,600m/8,500ft above sea level. It links the two upper resort cable-cars by an 11km/7mi easy walk along a good stone path with no steep climbs and commanding fantastic views over Dali and Lake Erhai with the mountains in the background.
