Le Plateau, the historic centre of Dakar, occupies the tip of the peninsula and contains the city's major attractions including colonial buildings (Presidential Palace, City Hall), the Théodore-Monod Museum and markets. This area, which doesn't feel at all like a showcase, is where the city really comes alive.
