The Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús dates from 1571, but its façade was rebuilt after an earthquake in 1650. A gem of baroque architecture, with its tall towers and lavishly adorned portal, it competes in purity, elegance and majesty with the cathedral, particularly when the former is lit up at night. Look out for the imposing master altar, entirely covered in gold leaf, the sculptures, superb works of art that bear witness to the friendly relations between the Jesuits and the Indians, as well as other treasures.
