The finest feature of the Romanesque Église St Pierre de Carennac is its 12C door. In terms of craftsmanship, the tympanum is akin to those of Beaulieu, Moissac, Collonges and Cahors. Surrounded by the four evangelists, a Christ in Majesty, set in a mandorla, symbolises the glory of God. On either side, the apostles are arranged along two stacked registers, with two kneeling angels adorning the upper register. The entire composition is framed by small animals.
