Housed in the castle of Caen, the museum of Normandy boasts archaeological and ethnographic collections dedicated to Normandy's history and popular traditions. The Gallo-Roman period, which includes a late-1C mother goddess, is particularly well illustrated. The early Middle Ages are less well represented due to the fewer remains left by the Vikings.
