The terrible fire that devastated Bourges on 22 July 1487 destroyed the church, the layout of which was significantly modified as it was rebuilt - most notably by the addition of a spire by Guillaume Pelvoysin. Inside, an inscription on a beautiful white marble font adorned with a fleur-de-lys (16C) invites visitors to meditate on the fragility of human life.
