With its two towers and large bell, this gate makes up an emblematic Bordeaux scene. Saved from demolition when a belfry was taken down in the 15C, the Aquitaine Gate is greatly loved by the people of the town: indeed, when the king was unhappy with the townsfolk, he confiscated the bell and clocks!
