The northern tip of the Spree Island boasts an extraordinary concentration of museums featuring brilliant displays. These buildings, with their inspired architecture, bear witness to a cultural policy that resulted in the creation of one of the world's richest art collections. Gathered here are the Pergamon Museum, the Altes Museum (Old Museum), the Alte Nationalgalerie (Old National Gallery), the Bode Museum, and the Neues Museum (New Museum). It is hardly surprising, then, that UNESCO has designated this exceptional site a World Heritage site. Extensive restoration work is currently underway and is expected to be completed in 2027.
