This museum homes in on the scientific expeditions of Admiral Jean-François de Galaup de Lapérouse (1741-88) on the frigates La Boussole and L'Astrolabe from 1785. Thanks to navigational instruments, maps and ship models, you will gain an insight into sailing in the 18C. A film charts four centuries of adventures across the Pacific, about which knowledge was improved by new discoveries in 1999 then in 2003 off the coast of Vanikoro.
