The square is paved with black and white stones forming a graceful pattern. It serves as a backdrop to opulent-looking Baroque buildings that lend charm to the place: the cathedral, the Basilica dei Santi Pietro e St Paolo, the Palazzo Comunale and the Palazzo Modò, which was known as an Eldorado when it housed a theatre.
