A statue of the Virgin stands on an esplanade offering fabulous views over Horta and its bays to the south, and the island of Pico to the east. A little higher up (150 m) stands a windmill, the star of local postcards. Below, on the north side, the black ribbon of the Praia do Almoxarife, one of the island's most popular beaches, invites you to go for a swim.
