Between the two mountainous slopes in the east of the island of Santo Antão, you will spot the farm-market crops and some houses that stand at the bottom of this dormant volcanic crater. As in the Canary Islands, farmers use the echo of their voices around the mountains to communicate. The crater marks the starting and end point of a superb hike to Ribeira do Paúl.
