In the white city of limestone stairways, at the highest point of the village, a skillfully restored ancient residence houses a splendid relais that – fittingly – bears the name La Sommità. The gourmet restaurant Cielo welcomes guests with romantic summer dinners among the citrus trees of the small inner courtyard, or in the barrel-vaulted dining room, where the atmosphere is intimate and evocative. The menu offers a modern reinterpretation of Apulian cuisine: not to be missed are the stewed catalogna with grilled lamb offal and sweet-and-sour lampascioni, or the pasta cooked in spicy tomato water, served with raw red mullet and chervil. At aperitivo hour, it is worth ascending to the splendid terrace to take in the sunset, while at lunch the offering becomes simpler, designed for a lighter yet always refined experience.
