This square is in the working-class district of Marolles. A daily fleamarket is held here and, while the best bargains are to be had during the week, the Place du Jeu de Balle is at its liveliest at the weekend, when tourists and local rub shoulders in the estaminets. The former fire station was built in 1861-1863 according to plans by architect Joseph Poelaert.
