A 16C Renaissance palace is home to this fine five-storey museum. The rooms showcase temporary exhibitions and splendid paintings by Goya. Superbly displayed, his collection of engravings includes works from The Caprices, The Disasters of War, Tauromachia and The Follies series. Painted on the cusp of the 18-19C, his engravings introduced an essential element of freedom, enabling him to treat sometimes controversial subjects in a highly realistic and dynamic style.
