Downstream from Meyrueis towards Le Rozier, the River Jonte flows through a canyon, whose sheer limestone flanks have been hewn by erosion. Further on, the canyon becomes narrower and in summer the river completely dries up. Approaching the hamlet of Douzes, the river emerges from its long underwater journey into a second, deep canyon. Before reaching Le Rozier, pause at the Maison des Vautours (vulture viewpoint) for a matchless sight of the raptors reintroduced in the 1970s.
