The Laboe Navy Memorial is recognisable by an 85m/278ft tower in the shape of a keel. The history of the German navy is told here. Be sure to visit the U 995 submarine, which was launched in Hamburg in 1943 and operated in the Sea of Norway. From the top of the tower there is a superb view of the harbour; on a clear day, the Danish archipelago can be seen.
